Oxford Networks Company Information

Our History

Our History

Alexander Graham Bell invented the telephone in Boston in 1876.   By 1884 long distance phone service had been established in Boston and New York City.

Only nine years later, in 1893, Oxford Networks innovative founder Alva Andrews ordered the necessary supplies – copper wire, poles and two hand-crank phones – to establish phone service between his family business in South Woodstock, Maine and the West Paris Railroad Station.  The rest, as they say, is history.

Officially incorporated as Oxford Telephone and Telegraph in 1900, Oxford Networks has grown from an independent local telephone company to a growing technology solutions provider.  As technology has evolved, so has Oxford Networks.  Growing strong with a team of highly skilled employees, a cutting edge fiber optic network, and high security data center,  Oxford Networks is proud of its Maine heritage and commitment to meeting the changing needs of its customers.

Innovation still runs deep at Oxford Networks.  That Yankee ingenuity and resourcefulness that inspired Alva Andrews is a big part of the company today.
